The rosewood finish was personally inspected and approved by the Export manager and they were shipped with the B&W approved special stands. This pair was probably one of the very last pairs of the 801 Mark III's ever made as B&W factories were at this time moving to the very much more expensive and more flashy, but not necessarily that much better sounding, Nautilus. This pair therefore represent the crowning achievement of many years development on a line that was internationally regarded as one of the finest speakers ever made. These speakers have only ever been displayed in my sitting room. They have never been subjected to abuse by tobacco smoke, pets or children and the display location has always been effectively climate controlled. They are without any mark of any kind anywhere on the rosewood finish, the painted tops and the black cloth cone covers and top fitting. They look and sound as good today as they did at the time of final quality control at the factory. I have the original packing, test certificates, instruction and set-up books, tools and extras as well as the publicity brochures of the time. This is a unique opportunity to acquire a set of speakers of unparalleled quality and beauty and it is most unlikely such an opportunity to obtain such a pair of 801 MkIII's will ever arise again.
