Linn Sondek
LP-12 & Rondo Red
by James Leahy

Another Linn
Sondek LP12 gets the treatment with a general good clean &
adjustment and the great new Ortofon Rondo Red MC cartridge fitted.
This variant had the Linn Akito tonearm mounted and is a good basic
constructed unit for a cheap tonearm with one piece tube section of moderate stability
and fair tracking ability.
For the owner
who wants the ultimate in tracking & rigidity I would recommend
changing to a alloy Rega RB300 or better tonearm. The LP12 makes a perfect
base to suit modifications bringing this old gem up-to-date to super
human modern standards by some simple and basic improvements. You
can't beat Rega tonearms!

Here you can
see the baby of the Ortofon Rondo line, the 'Red' MC cartridge
mounted in all it's glory and promising many years of enjoyment.
Doesn't it look horn! This is the perfect MC cart for those wanting
to get their feet wet in MC heaven and without wanting to sleep on
the couch for weeks on end. Mounting the Rondo is virtually fuss free and it complements the Akito tonearm perfectly with plenty of adjustment remaining for
those who like to tinker.
